McCormack was the child of a clinical therapy therapist and the owner of an ice cream shop. Her family is a family that is not entertainment-based. McCormack attended Wardlaw-Hartridge School and, following her parents' divorce in the year 1990, she enrolled to Trinity College in Hartford in Connecticut. She graduated in the BA program in comparative arts. She began her career as a child when she was a part of the stage production "Amahl & the Night Visitors which was a Christmas-themed operetta. As she continued her career in theatre, McCormack eventually gained roles for both the film and television. Her versatility is recognized today. Michael Morris (producer/director) is the McCormack's spouse. The couple has three daughters.
